Spiky hair picture was taken after his bath. Could not resist messing up his hair and his daddy could not resist taking a picture of him (the camera is always at daddy’s bedside table). Anyways, of late he has been refusing to wear the bedung (a big cloth wrapped around him to prevent from feeling cold) and constantly wriggles his hands out of the cocoon and either putting one hand in his mouth or flapping both his arms like a bat. He even kicks his blanket like a true champion and has started to sleep sideways too.

He loves it when we bathe him and kicks around in the water too. His legs and neck have gotten stronger by the day and he has been gaining weight quite a bit too, which is good news because babies put on about 200 grams per week.

Educating our minds

April 18th, 2006

This picture was taken a few days after we brought lil’ Irfan home from the hospital. As you can see, the little fella has started to open his eyes a bit bigger to view the world that his parents have brought him into.

We (Irwan & I) did some reading online regarding our health information (this is the same site that we dug for information regarding child birth) as well as our baby’s and we found out that babies at this age are attracted to the colours white, black and red. Irfan (or Adam) has begun looking around but has yet to learn to focus on things (like DUH!). So, whenever I wear black or white, he would be able to focus on me a wee bit longer. I also looked up on articles regarding  breast cancer to educate our minds better.

Another good thing about him is that he hardly cries (which we are hoping to last forever.. hehe) and even when he is hungry, he will let out this cutest sound ever, as if to say: Mommy, I’m hungry! Feed me already! =)

Irfan Adam Irwan Shahrin was born on the 3rd of April, 2006 at 9:03 a.m. through caesarean section at Subang Jaya Medical Centre. He weighed in at 3.55 kg which translates to about 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was about 47 cm long.

The whole process did not take very long, roughly about an hour or so and did not seem as scary as I expected it to be. Although it did hurt when the nurse inserted the urine tube in me, all the pain and horror however seemed to fade away when the midwife gave me lil’ Irfan right after he was out from the womb. As I lay my eyes for the first time on the life I have been carrying inside me for the past 9 months, I thank the Almighty for presenting Irwan & I a healthy baby boy.

Lil’ Irfan has his daddy’s eyes and for the first few days, he refused to open his eyes as he was asleep ALL the time!
