is that he’s been eating non-stop! Phew! What a relief! And he’s been laughing and giggling and being his usual happy-go-lucky baby that he normally is. I first gave him the medicine (Cataflam) at SJMC and while on the way back to Putrajaya, he finished all of his milk. Later in the evening, he had a bottle of Mac and Cheese and again, I gave him his medicine (to be given 3 times a day, after food). At about 8 p.m, he had another round of milk and went to sleep.
This morning however, instead of his usual bowl of cereal with some biscuits, he had 2 bottles of Mac and Cheese, 2 Farley’s biscuits, 2 slices of bread and a bottle of milk for breakfast! Hoo-boy! The lil’ one must’ve been starving. And the pain in his mouth must’ve subsided, hence the increase in food intake. Alhamdulillah. I’m so glad. And he’s got no fever either. So, that is good too. The red spots on his legs have gone a tad less visible. He doesn’t have that many on his hands, probably about 10 spots on both hands? Let’s just pray everything will turn out A-okay before the 3rd. =)

Hey there… =)

Arrgghhhhhh!!!!

But it’s HFMD! My heart almost stopped when Dr. Ali (our normal paed Dr. Khoo is on vacation, and so is Dr. Lee, who has been my brothers’ paed) said that he doesn’t have the measles or chicken pox. But it’s hand-foot-mouth disease. When I showed him Irfan’s spots, the first thing he asked was if he has been drooling these past few days. And I answered yes, because I thought he is teething. He laughed when I said that. Hrmphh! Didn’t think it was funny… =P So yeah, when he checked Irfan’s mouth, there seem to be some ulcers and his gums were swollen.
To my absolute relief however, he said that it’s a very mild one and it should subside in 3-4 days’ time. The only thing he prescribed was some droplets to soothe Irfan’s gum pains to increase his food intake (which has decreased tremendously since Monday and his weight dropped a whopping 300 grams since we last weighed him a week ago!).
Irfan’s been okay so far. Still his usual self. And hopefully he’ll be better in time for his birthday party. InsyaAllah.
p/s: I think he contracted the germs from one of the trolleys at IKEA. *shakes head*

Bugging Papa who was on the phone talking to Gramps who were concerned about Irfan’s condition.

After he’s had his shower in the evening. Doesn’t look sickly, does he?

Hrmm.. yeah.. we’re going to see an alternative paed (since Irfan’s paed is on leave til the 31st) in a bit to confirm our horror. See, I’ve noticed some small red spots on his thigh Monday night, but I took for granted that they were mozzie bites. Sigh. How silly! Anyway, he hasn’t been sleeping well, and is always always fretful at night (somehow during the day he is ok) since Monday. Last night, he kept the both of us up with his small cries (with his eyes shut!) and refused milk and just wanted to be cuddled. And cuddled him we did.
He’s got no temperature whatsoever, so I didn’t think that he’s unwell. This morning when I woke him up, he was sweating quite a bit, so, I thought that it was because of the hot and humid weather lah. He was still fussing (which is very unusual of him) when I took his clothes off, but the minute the water got on him (I made the water slightly cooler), he was soooo happy! Then, I noticed some small spots (probably 3 or 4) on his neck and again, thought they were mozzie bites! *slaps forehead*
Anyway, he drank 5 oz. of milk on the way to Bangsar, and when we were stuck in the jam, I glanced towards his legs, and oh-bly-me! The were full of red spots! AND this time, I knew they weren’t mozzie bites. Sigh. My poor boy. Turning 1 next week and those darn measles just had to attack him now. Nyeh!
My mom said that he’s been sleeping since 10 a.m. Refused milk and refused his biscuits too. Adoi.. lagilah kurus my son! We’ll see how it goes with Dr. Ali. =(

Penat sung-guh!

March 26th, 2007

Last weekend was a busy one as we had to sort out schtuff for Irfan’s do. It seems to be never-ending actually. And I still have 10 million more things to do in my list. Sigh. So, on Saturday, Irfan and I made a trip to IKEA as I wanted to get some serviettes and plastic plates and etc etc and I completely forgot about the IKEA sale! Traffic around IKEA wasn’t too bad, but because it rained earlier before noon, there were a lot of accidents on LDP and that made the traffic crawl like aaaannyyyttthiiinng. Never can understand why people must slow down and look. If nak help, takpelah jugak. If you just want to be a kepoh, then park at the side and move it! Hrmppphhh! But, I was glad that it took us a while to reach IKEA because Irfan was asleep and I wanted him to be fully rested before we redah IKEA.
Parking was just crazy! I was going round and round for good 20 minutes before I finally spotted TWO parkings! Haha! Irfan was up by then, so I just carried him and got the IKEA trolley and placed him on it. Since we needed a computer table, I was checking them out and found a perfect one for RM 299! (Original price is RM 499). Quite a good deal, innit? But of course I couldn’t buy it then lah. Takkan nak carry alone? We came back for it yesterday. Hehehe..
Irfan behaved rather well, I must say. Only the occassional whining and screaming (but most of the kids at IKEA were screaming.. so takde lah malu sangat.. haha!) and he didn’t want to sit on the seat thingie in the trolley. When we got to the lower level, I exchanged the small trolley with the bigger one, and place the lil’ fella where you’d normally put your items and what nots. He was happier there and was playing with his toys and the serviettes I took.
After we were done at IKEA, I finally decided to have my lunch. It was probably around 4-ish at that time. Fed Irfan some of his Mac and Cheese (don’t know why he’s hungry, he had a whole bowl of porridge before we left the house) and some of my spaghetti. Next on the list was a trip to Cold Storage. Some makcik in there who thought she knew better had to spoil my day when she said this:
makcik: Kenapa letak dia kat dalam tu? Macam miserable je (he was miserable because he was tired). Letaklah dia kat tempat duduk tu.
me: Dah letak, dia tak nak. (And was about to proceed walking when I noticed she gave me this you-are-a-terrible-mother-for-doing-this-to-your-child look!)
makcik: Kesian diaaa.. (while stroking his hair)
me: (Gave her the if-you-are-such-a-good-mother-how-come-none-of-your-kids-are-around-to-help-you-with-your-grocery-shopping? look)
Makcik fled and asked one of the Cold Storage guys to help her take a box of tissue from the other end of the aisle because she tak larat to walk. Hrmppphhh! I detest these sort of people. So judgemental! Ishhh!!!!
Since Irfan was quite restless, I decided to cut the grocery shopping short and then I noticed why he was fretful! He soiled himself and his pants was quite drenched! Alahai, kesiannya.. I didn’t notice because I wasn’t carrying him and since he was sitting down, it wasn’t noticeable. Sorry sayang! After paying for the stuff, went to the changing room and changed him and he was his happy self again. Siap lompat-lompat lagi in the trolley. Ish ish ish!
We headed home soon after and even after he finished 6 oz. of milk, still refused to sleep! When we got home, we played for a bit and just about 7 p.m, thought I’d give him his shower and put him to sleep. Made another round of milk and he slept while drinking his milk. =) And that was just on Saturday! Phew…!
Yesterday, we went to IKEA to get that computer table I was eye-ing on. My gawd!!! The traffic was just crazy around there. IKEA’s parking was full, so we had to park at The Curve. We had our late lunch there too and after that, went off to IKEA.
We had a problem. The box wouldn’t fit into the car. And Irwan didn’t want to pay RM 60 for delivery. Our option? My brother in-law. Hehe. Poor guy was asleep when his wifey answered, but he made the trip for us and brought back the box to my in-laws’ place. After we were done buying a whole load more of stuff, we headed to KJ, chilled with my brother in-law and his wife (what is biras in English?) and made the trip to Putrajaya in his car to send over the box (I nearly broke my back lugging that berat thing up into our room), and had dinner at A&W PJ. (Irfan was asleep by then, so I was able to enjoy my yummy chicken, mozza burger and hotdog. Yuuummmmmmm…) We then sent back brother in-law’s car and took back Irwan’s car and went home. Our day ended at about 11 p.m. And this morning, I had trouble waking up. Hahaha!

Posing for the camera before going for Dina’s wedding on Friday night.

His new monkey face look. Ish! Tak senonoh!!

I want that.. and that.. and that.. (he seems to be pointing to everything nowadays!)

I said I want, I wantlah!!!!!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaa…!!!!

Kena lagi!

Haha! Got tagged by Shannon and this is what she wants me to do:
Go to PopCulture site.
Pick the year you turn 18 years old.
Get yourself nostalgic over the songs that year.
Write something about how those songs affected you.
Pass it on to five more friends.
Okay, so just like Shannon, I turned 18 in 1997. I was a ‘rebel for cause’ that year, and a few years after that in fact.. haha! Anyway, my list of songs would be:
  1. Hard To Say I’m Sorry - Az Yet (Because it WAS hard for me to say sorry whenever I hurt anyone that I love.. nyeh!)
  2. A Long December - Counting Crows (I just love the song! ‘Nuff said!)
  3. Firestarter - Prodigy (I’d hit it on full blast whenever I’m cracking my head doing Algebra and what have yous, and it always work!!!)
  4. The Freshmen - The Verve Pipe (The song gives me a soothing feeling. Don’t ask me why.. haha!)
  5. Un-Break My Heart - Toni Braxton (Just like Shannon, I love the chorus too. And I think this is Toni’s best song EVER!)

Those are the list of songs (there are more, but I’m only supposed to list 5 down) and here are the people that I would like to tag: shoppermom, malaika’s mommy, mommykhong, sue, rey’s mommy.

Yesterday we brought Irfan to SJMC to have his second pneumococcal jab. It all went quite smoothly I must say as he only cried for about 5 seconds after his paed injected him. This time, his paed asked me to carry him and while trying to distract him with toys, she injected his poor butt and within 5 nanoseconds, he gave us a cry! Pacified him a bit and gave him some other toys and voila, he was all well and dandy. Haha!
I enquired with his paed if we should be changing his milk when he turns 1 and told her that we have about 20 – 24 tins left at home (we buy by the cartons from her as we save about RM 10 – RM 15 PER TIN! - you do the math on how much we have managed to save!). She said that we should continue giving him his Enfalac HA and that some parents with high allergy children continue giving HA until the kids are about 18 months or so. Fair enough. Whatever is good for him, I suppose? Anyway, she told us that when we switch milk, we should give him Enfapro. Any feedbacks on this milk? Anyone?
Since both Irwan and I were on half day leave yesterday, we took advantage of that and went to One Utama knowing well that 1) it wouldn’t be jam and 2) it wouldn’t be packed like sardines in there since most people are working. We went searching for a BBQ pit and managed to find a decent one at Jusco. On top of that, I did more shopping (as usual!) and bought some clothes for Irfan at Bebehouse (I think that’s what it’s called) and myself at Zara. I’m such a Zara junkie! Nyeh!
After One Utama, we all headed to in-laws’ house to have dinner with my brother in-law and Irfan went straight to his ‘favourite’ spot once he knew where we were at. Okay, his favourite spot is at the door in between the living area and the dining area. Whenever he plays there, I’d be so afraid that someone who’s coming out from the kitchen/dining would open the door and hit him. So far, nothing has happenedlah, but you knowlah how it is. Accidents will happen when you least expect it!
We left for Putrajaya at about 9.00 p.m. and Irfan slept in the car while on the way back. When we reached home, I told Irwan to let Irfan sleep with us because I wanted to monitor his temperature (since he just had the shot). True enough, at about 2.00 a.m., he was whining and crying and when I touched him, I could feel that his body was quite warm. We then fed him with paracetamol and he drank some milk and went back to sleep. Nothing else happened after that and by this morning, he was his usual self. Thank god!
Oh yeah, for all of you out there who’s wondering how much he weighs, the scale showed 10.5 kg yesterday. Beratnya!!!!! And his height is 74 cm. Weight is above average, but height is average. Oh well, neither of his parents are very tall anyways. Hehehe…

Sitting on the low “tembok” outside our house.

Cheeky Irfan at SJMC yesterday. (Before the jab.)

As much as I enoy Irfan’s company, going places with him, taking care of him and doing things with him, somehow sometimes I think I need a lil’ break from the lil’ fella lah. For the past two weekends, Irwan has been having stuff at the Sepang circuit, so I had to take care of Irfan alone. The first weekend wasn’t too bad. But last weekend, I almost gave up!
On Saturday, after Irwan left for Sepang, Irfan took a 3-hour nap. I took this chance to sort the laundries out, cook porridge for him and clean up some mess around the house. By the time I was done and wanted to have my shower, he got up and refused to go back to sleep. Okaylah, slept 3 hours already, let him just do what he wants lah. The moment I stepped into the bathroom, he started crying. I was like.. aiyoo.. cannot not see me, ah? So oklah, I put him outside the bathroom and left the bathroom door open and had my shower. There were a few times that he wanted to join me in the bathroom, but I told him to stay away from the door and somehow he sort of listened.
After that, I changed his diapers (which is a feat nowadays!) and put his stuff in the car and left for The Curve. Traffic wasn’t too bad and I managed to get parking easily (I can never get easy parking at The Curve!) and we headed to Borders. At Borders, I got him more books (they were at the bargain section.. couldn’t help myself lah!) and some colouring books and what have yous for the goodie bags that I’ll be giving out to the kids at his party.
For the first 15 minutes, he gave me his full co-operation and sat nicely in his stroller. But after that, aiyoooo, he was crying and fussing, so I took him out and he was lunging towards the floor. That only means one thing: that he wants to crawl all over the floor. So, oklah, I let him be. He took one book and was sliding with the book around the aisle. I just let him be and came two older kids who played with him.
Then he started to get cranky. Whenever I carried him, he’d wriggle like a worm and do his inverted C body. I was starting to get cranky too! Haha! When I was done, I paid for all the items and tried to put him back in his stroller and he refused to sit! Instead, he gave this LOUD cry and everyone in Borders was looking! Quite malu I must say. But how on earth am I going to carry him with one hand and push the stroller with the other? I used to do that last time, but at that time, he didn’t weigh as much as he does now!
Tolak punya tolak, he was still crying. It can’t be milk time because he just had his milk while on the way to The Curve. So I gave him some water and he was okay for a while. Managed to sleep in fact! But lo and behold! After 5 minutes of closing his eyes, he thought, what the heck? Let’s annoy Mama more! And he did! He was just crying on and on and on. And I had to get so many things done. But I couldn’t because he was just fretful and all, but I just pekakkan my ears and continued buying stuff and when I was done, we headed home.
In the car, I gave him milk, but the fella still refused to sleep! When we got home, I took him out of his car seat and the seat was drenched! Oh man, the lil’ fella drenched himself! Gave him his shower and all and Irwan got home. I then let Irwan handle him while I cleaned up his car seat.
Later at night, we went to have crabs with my friends and Irfan still refused to sleep in the car. Only after having some rice and milk, did he finally decide to shut his eyes and go to sleep. We took two chairs and sambung them together and I took his pillow and blanket out from the car and the lil’ prince slept til the next morning! Phew!!!
I seriously don’t know how all you SAHMs do it, but I really really really salute you guys! Hats off! =)

Irfan at 6 1/2 months. Check out those hands!

Irfan at 11 months. The hands not as berlipat-lipat anymore! =(

I didn’t know what to get my son for his birthday. He’s got plenty of clothes, toys, books and we (read: I chose and swiped with my credit card which Irwan pays for.. hehe! ) just bought him a new pair of shoes about 3 weeks back since he has outgrown 2 pairs already! He’s got another pair of new shoes which my parents bought in London when I was about 2 months pregnant, but he still can’t fit into them yet. In-laws also have bought him a new pair of shoes from Perth. So, I can’t make him an Imelda Marcos now, can I? Hahahaha.. =P
Went to Subang Parade last Saturday with Irfan (Irwan was at the Sepang track) and while getting stuff for his party, I decided to check Mothercare out. Most of the toys they had there were pretty expensive and some were not meant for his age yet. Went round and round the store and suddenly I remembered that he’s running out of PJs already since he’s grown so biglah. So, I thought oklah, let’s get him 2 pairs of PJs for his birthday pressie. Hehe. I didn’t get them wrapped and I’m not sure if I should because at the end of the day, he’s just going to rip open those pressies and I’m just going to throw away those wrapping papers. I was thinking about saving some trees. Reckon it’ll work? ;)

Hey there! *smile*

Present number one.

Yeah! Irwan wanted to take Irfan out of his cot and join us on our bed last night. Apparently he misses cuddling Irfan to sleep. Aiyooo..!! Mula-mula, he was the one yang so beriya-iya nak let Irfan sleep by himself. Chided me some more because I refused to let go of Irfan. Now he wants the boy on our bed again. And yes, he joined us at about 3-ish since he wanted some milk. After that, both babies were hugging each other to sleep. Big baby was sleeping at the edge of the bed, sampai nak terjatuh like that because small baby was hogging up his side of the bed. Heh! What a sight…. =P
Okay, so I think I’ll strike a deal with those two babies. Big baby gets to have small baby on our bed during weekends OR when small baby wakes up in the middle of the night for milk. Most times big baby feeds small baby anyway, so yeah, he can have Irfan sleeping with us then. I, on the other hand, will enjoy the big (where got so big?) space I have on my side of the bed. Hahahaha!
Can’t wait for Saturday. Gonna have crabs with some friends. YUMMMMMYYYY!!! =)

Sleeping peacefully. (Notice how short the hair is???)

So, he slept through the night yesterday. My mom fed him dinner at about 6-ish and he managed to finish a BIG bowl of porridge and one piece of grilled drumstick (shredded to small pieces, of course!). Changed him into his PJs and after being in the car for about 5 minutes, Irfan was already in slumberland. Phew!
When we got home, he stirred a little bit when Irwan took him out of his car seat, but after that, he was in deep sleep. I fed him 6 oz. of milk at about 10-ish (he was still asleep, but the mulut nganga only for milk) and then put him back in his cot. This morning, he cried for us at about 7 a.m. =) Yay!!! Hopefully, it’ll be the same for today and the next few months. Hehe.

This picture was taken last Saturday. We got him to visit the barber again last 2 weekends. Somehow this time he didn’t sit still for long, hence the belakang was a bit crooked. After fixing it, his hair at the back was way too short for my liking. But oh well, what to do? Next hair cut would only be in 6 months’ time or more! =P Anyway, he was making a mess in his room, as always, and somehow would always grab my camera cover. I really don’t know what’s so great about it. Nehmind lah, better to have him play with that than the plug points or switches or door or floor mat or bedroom slippers or keys or dustbin and the list goes on.

Whenever he gets naughty or doesn’t listen to any of us, Irwan would spank his bottom. Not hardlah, but enough to make sure that he keeps quiet and doesn’t do what he isn’t supposed to for a while. The magic word here: for a while. Hahahaha! There was this one time that I scolded him, and he gave me his 10 sen look and crawled towards Irwan, as though nak complaint like that. Nyeh! But come makan time.. who does he look for? ME! *slaps forehead*
