So…

March 31st, 2008

over the last few days I got me not one, but two new lenses for myself and I’ve declared myself bankrupt for the time being. Haha! I’m a sucker for prime lenses and so I got me a DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited as well as a DA 21mm f/3.2 AL Limited wide angle. I only got the wide angle on Saturday and since first-half of yesterday was “chores & cooking” day and the later half was raining - I haven’t really tested the lens yet. What I’m happy most is the size and weight of those lenses. The 70mm is only 130 grams and the 21mm is only 140 grams. And did I mention that they’re compact? Hence the given name - pancake. :) Aaaahhh..

Pictures from the 70mm can be seen here.

We went to one of ‘em many Putrajaya parks on Saturday with Irfan and his remote control car and the lil’ fler had fun controlling the car or running around chasing it. Heh! We wanted him to have lots of fun time with Irwan because the day after his birthday dinner party, Irwan will be leaving for Munich - yet again! But this time, it’s only for a week. So, that’s pretty alright, me thinks?

Speaking of his birthday dinner party, we went to Delicious @ Marc Residence (where the dinner will be held) on Friday night (traffic was horrendous!!!!!!!!) and am really glad that we chose to have it there rather than the one at 1U or Bangsar Village. It’s nice and quiet with not too many patrons. :) And we’ll be getting a rather private area for ourselves. Since I have not ordered any cakes yet (or is there any suggestions?) we thought that we’d make do with the chocolate cake that they have there. There’s only about 15 of us, anyway? ;)

Oh, before I forget, Irfan has now learnt to compose a sentence using a string of words. Some examples: “Ma, can I af (the) bowl, ees?”, “I (pr)omise to be (a) gud boy!” and “Eat rice and fish.” He still yaps in his own language and it’s quite funny to see him converse in “Greek” with his car, his yai or even ourselves! 3 more days.. and he’s quite the big guy he already is now. Sigh.

Singing aloud.

Running to Papa.

Pardon the hairy legs. Hahaha!

:)

Looking at the aeroplane.

Upset about something.

Still upset about something! :P

One more week to go…

March 27th, 2008

I can’t believe it! Another week to go? Oh dear.. time really flies! This time last year I was busy preparing his birthday bash and our housewarming party. And this time 2 years ago I was busy making sure all our stuff were already packed and we were ready to go. Haha!

I’ve got a few of you asking me if it’s easy to get Irfan to wear his cap. Initially no. He would refuse to have anything on his head. But for the past few months or so, he doesn’t seem to mind. At first, he’d only want to wear one of Irwan’s many BMW caps, but since it’s a tad too big for his lil’ head, we told him to wear his cap instead. And he obligingly do so. Unlike Irwan, he doesn’t wear his cap most of the time - only does so when we’re at the park/playground/beach or when the sun’s on top of our heads. I think I should get him a pair of sunnies soon. Can be all stylo-mylo like J. Sha, can ka? :P

The apple of our eyes. :)

It has been a while…

March 25th, 2008

because I really don’t know what to write these days. My life is sooooo hectic that I think I need a holiday soon… but with Irwan running around the globe, I don’t think a holiday can happen anytime soon. Maybe 3rd quarter of the year. I hope so. I so need a holiday badly. Sigh.

Irfan’s been fantastic. But also not so fantastic - behaviour wise. Haha. He loves throwing things (read: toys) everywhere - especially into the pool at my parents’! Sending him to the corner doesn’t work. Explaining things to him doesn’t work. Not giving him toys to play with doesn’t work either. So what will? I’m running out of ideas already. I just hope this is a phase. And that he will leave this phase like all the other phases he’s left. Hah! *crossing fingers*

Been trying to catch him on video counting from 1-10 in both English and Bahasa Melayu (or is it Malaysia now?) but to no avail. He freezes whenever he sees the camera/phone in front of him. And he’d continue counting once the camera’s off his face! *slaps forehead*

We were at Lake Garden last Sunday and everyone had a great time! :) I brought along some sausages and fried drummets for breakfast and I think we should do it again - since Irfan enjoyed himself so much! Haha. And the weekend flew by just like that! Sigh.

Addendum: Photos of my cousin’s cukur jambul can be seen here.

Enjoying the ride.

Looking at the other kids playing.

Having a sip after finishing his breakfast.

The sign at the playground.

Going home.

It was a packed weekend!

March 17th, 2008

We had a very packed weekend as we had to attend my cousin’s Cukur Jambul ceremony on Saturday morning, then my mother in-law’s 50th and brother in-law’s 18th birthday bash and yesterday, we attended this hot mama’s son’s second birthday bash. I met a few familiar faces there such as Shannon, Barbara and Annie. Didn’t manage to chat much with them as I was busy practicing my SLR. Heh! I sound so pathetic. LOL! Aaaanyways, the photos from J’s bash can be seen here. Sasha, I hope you’re happy with them, yeah? But I do apologize for not getting a family picture of you guys. :(

I’ve got some backdated updates on Irfan:

  1. We’ve managed to convince him to poo on the toilet bowl now. It’s not an everyday scenario, but whenever he’s with us and we’re home and he tells us he needs to yak, we’d sit him down on the bowl and hold him until he’s done. He doesn’t feel comfortable enough doing it on his potty, sooooo.. that’d do for now.

  2. He lost interest with his milk/bottles and was on strike a few days ago and that made me scamper like mad to the nearest mall looking for new teats, bottles et al. I was really really all stressed out because usually he’d drink about 32 oz. of milk per day and in those two days that he was on strike, he only managed to drink 16 oz. combined! Bah! The solution? Add hot chocolate/milo (thanks Jazz!) into his milk. Now he’s drinking like a champion! Haha! Legaaaaaaaaaaa…

Getting restless as it was waaaayyy past his bedtime.

J’s awesome cake!!!

The king himself.

My son trying to be funny. Heh!

Lost my mojo?

March 11th, 2008

Not that I had much of it for starters, but I really am running out of ideas on what to write these days. Irfan’s growing up way too fast and we are all finding the difficulty in coping with him. It amazes me what a 23-more-days-and-he’ll-be-TWO boy can do. His speech is amazing - not that he can speak in a proper sentence - but he does try to do so. But I’m still amaze at this kid’s speech. Heh! Maybe I’ll send my lil’ dude over to his house so that he can learn a thing or two about constructing a proper sentence. :P

Since his last monthly update, we’ve taught him to say “sorry” each time he makes a mistake or bites and/or hits us or something. So far, so good. But we’ve also explained to him that he can’t keep saying sorry and then repeat the same thing (i.e biting and/or hitting) over and over again. If that happens, then there’s no more face value left for the word sorry anymorelah. I don’t know whether he understands or not, but since someone suggested in my previous post that I should “reason out” more than I should gertak (which I don’t do very often - only when I’m really really tired and no amount of reasoning works on Irfan) so I thought waddaheck, he’s old enough to understand, so I hope he does. :)

Anyway, last night a beetle flew into our house while we were all having dinner. It scared the living daylight (or nightlight? :P) out of Irfan so Irwan thought that he should show Irfan that the beetle is pretty harmless by putting the beetle on his palm. When Irfan saw that, he too wanted the beetle to be on his palm, baju and thumb. Haha. They were playing with the beetle for about 15 minutes or so and I was too darn tired to snap photos. The traffic yesterday was horrigible and it took me almost an hour to get home! Pffffftttt….

I digress.

After a while, we told Irfan that the beetle wants to go back to his mama and that he needs to send the beetle off at the main door. Off him went with Irwan to the door and said his bye-bye and whateverlah. I was just laughing at the whole scenario - one minute he was scared sh*tless and the next minute, they were BFF’s! Hahaha! A few minutes later, he saw an ant and wanted to play with the ant pulak! *slaps forehead*

Enjoying the breeze.

:)

My etsy purchases. From L-R: carseat strap covers with loopy tags, diapers & wipes mini-bag and crayon holder.

Teeth grinding or also known as bruxism is apparently something that kids go through! Both Irwan and I were alarmed when we heard Irfan grinding his teeth in the middle of the night and after reading online about it (thank god for Google - I’d die if I had to go to the library to find out about these things!) we’re not all that alarmed anymore. It should stop when he turns 6. That’s like 4 more years to go, but ho-well, we’ve tried stopping him, but he’s just too darn strong! Any of your tots doing the same thing?

On another note, I changed Irfan’s bottle teats a few days ago. And silly me threw away ‘em old teats - they’re like a year old anyway! Now, Irfan’s refusing his milk because probably he’s not too happy with his new teats (that sounds a tad too weird… :P) and won’t even finish 4 oz. of milk! I had to gertak him and say that I’d send him to sleep in his cot last night if he doesn’t finish his milk and that did the trick. But how many gertaks can I do? MIL said to try boiling the teats for a couple of times so that they’re softer and perhaps he’d be happy to drink again. But what boggles the mind is this - it’s never a problem when he gets a new bottle WITH a new teat. So what difference does it make now that they’re just new teats? Does he need new bottles too? Is he aware of how much ‘em Avent bottles cost? I guess I’ll give him a few days to adapt and if he still doesn’t want to drink - sue me/get new bottles? Heh!

And oh, I’ve received the items for my first purchase on Etsy! :) I got me (or rather Irfan) a diapers & wipes mini-bag, a crayon holder and car seat strap covers with loopy tags (since Irfan likes to gentel-gentel so much) at RM 90 or so. And yeah, that includes the shipping costs from US of A. Will someone with creativity (I have a few people in mind) start an Etsy Malaysia, please? Pretty please?

By the way, in case some of you are wondering, the curtains in Irfan’s room are from IKEA and the mini-sofa was custom made for him by a friend of my parents. :) Some pictures can be seen here.

Sound asleep - extremely exhausted!

New BFF! :P

Happy 23 months!

March 3rd, 2008

One more month to go and the lil’ dude will turn 2 years old! Oh.my.god! I know this sounds cliche - but time flies!!!! So far we’ve got nothing major planned for his birthday - just dinner with both sides of the family. Gotta save the moolah for Irwan’s 30th birthday surprise. Eeeeeeekkkk! Ho-well, nevermind. He’ll return the favour to me next year. ;) And yes, so now you know how old I am. :P

I digress.

Anyway, both my Siamese twins have been having fun with each other since the arrival of the older twin. Irfan was very much ecstatic when he saw his father - that was a plus point considering my surprise plans were dashed - and no, ain’t gonna talk about it. Irwan had some BMW staff thingie on Saturday and so he was away for the whole day. And although it was waaaayyy past his bedtime, that didn’t stop Irfan from staying up to wait for his Papa to come home. Yesterday, both boys conked out and napped for almost 4 1/2 hours! I just enjoyed the quietness and watched my downloaded TV series. Haha! :P

Irfan has too many updates. I can’t keep track of them anymore. He’s also getting chattier by the day. He has his own language too - and we most definitely don’t understand yet! He knows his P’s and Q’s, but sometimes he forgets ‘em. Hrmmm.. better than nothing, I say? Food wise - still the same stuff - he eats everything except pasir, batu, kayu and anything cold. He still drinks Enfagrow, but we’re also mixing his milk with Dumex Mamil Gold. And he currently weighs around 13.5 kg or so. Dah besar anak omak! Hahahahahahaha….

Nicely sleeping. Gave me some “me” time.

Just got up.

Playing with one of his uncle’s cars.

A pose for Mama.

Another (cheeky) pose.

His favourite number is his favourite “food” too! :P

Don’t know what pose this is.

Having his milk while waiting for Papa to get home.

My nighstand at my parents’ - full of his stuff!

Hehe.

Happy 23 months, sayang! :)
